The Hyper Modernity Club & Crix Crax Crux

I got an email from Frigital Records with a couple tracks from a couple of their forthcoming releases. The first song, "Our Friend in Baghdad" comes from a band called The Hypermodernity Club and it's my favorite out of the two tracks. It's got a hazy dreamy feel to it, like a kind of acoustic shoegaze. It's also very relaxing, probably perfect for a morning walk. The second track, "Radio On" comes from North Carolina indie rockers Crix Crax Crux. This is a solid song, but I just feel like there's something missing, I'm not really even sure what. They sound to me like a much more lo-fi version of Spoon, while mostly acoustic, the guitarwork and vocals are quite similar.
