You certainly seem excited about this record!.. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't too. I've heard live versions of 4 of the 5 songs and I'm tempted to think this is going to be a difficult album for a lot of people to swallow.. I think some of her less devoted fans might jump ship and she's unlikely to gather a huge number of new ones, and I can foresee it getting panned by some critics for being overindulgent or pretentious (10-17 minute songs definately aren't for everyone). I have to salute her bravery, but I think it's going to consolidate her as a cult figure rather than opening her up to a bigger audience. Still, that's not what's really important.. I can't wait to hear the orchestrated versions of Sawdust and Diamonds, Emily and Only Skin - roll on November.

I was quite satisfied with the live version of emily. I'm sure if I would like the orchastrated version that is going to be on the album. I'm finally jumping on the Joanna Newsom wagon with this album. I've been hearing a song or two from her here or there for almost a year now and I like what I hear. Lengthy songs don't bother me just as long as it isn't 17 minutes of suck.

Wow, sophomore album and she is already stretching the boundaries pretty far. (Not to mention that awesome cover.) She is going to have such a fascinating career. I can't wait to see what she does next.

I'm incredibly excited as well, but where did you hear November 11th as the date? Everywhere else I've checked has had November 14th as the US date.

I think that these songs definitely aren't for everyone but they are beautiful and I feel like not a minute is a waste. They seem more like stories to me than songs. I love the ones I've heard so far and can't wait to hear everything finished.

Though I may be a bit biased seeing as the first song I heard was Sawdust And Diamonds and I LOVE long songs..they make me so happy. I'm curious to see how Only Skin turned out--I heard it was intermingled with Be A Woman. Whether the 11th or 14th--I'm excited.
