My infallible love for The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart is no secret at all. I think I summed it up to the best of my cheesy abilities in the fanzine included with their Atomic Beat split 7" earlier this year. What they're doing is beautiful and perfect and wonderfully genuine – AND not to mention – totally fucking consistent! Have they got a bad song? Nope. And they probably never will as long as they keep moving in the direction they're headed in. Their new single "Everything With You" is the perfect noisy pop song. Kip and Peggy's vocal harmonies sound gorgeous floating above the ringing guitar wash and OH HEY SOLO! "Everything With You" is the first single from their previously mentioned debut LP and will be out on the mighty Slumberland Records (US) and Fortuna POP (UK) in the fall. BUT! You can go hear it right now streaming on the Pobpah MySpace and bask in it's life-affirming fantasticness!
God I love pop songs.

I love this band!
i am a bit disappointed that so many songs that have already been released will be on the 10 song album...
they will be all new versions/recordings, so i dont think it's really a bad thing at all.
I have to be honest. This band is about as exciting as vanilla ice cream. They are bland. Their live shows, which I have seen three to date, are to be frank… boring. All I can figure is that you people must have a low bar for what you consider entertainment.
all i can figure is that you've got poor taste in music if you think the pains are bland in any way. what are you doing here anyway if you don't like them?
i think it's crap to bash somebody who takes the time to read your site just because they disagree with you. that's completely ungracious. they clearly took the time to read what you wrote and to comment. the least you can do is to hear them and respect their opinion. i thought loving indie pop was about having an open mind and a discourse about music, but apparently that's not your viewpoint.
he wasnt JUST disagreeing, and i'm gonna defend the pains because they're awesome, and anything but bland. i'm not gonna bite my tongue just because he reads my website. i'm glad he does, but if you've got nothing good to say dont say it at all.
it's your opinion that the pains are awesome and you're entitled to it. just like he's entitled to his opinion that they're boring. he's seen them three times and has given them a fair shake. i think he's done due diligence and has earned the right to respectfully disagree. to tell people they don't belong here because they don't like one band you love is a sad, sad commentary on tolerance. i appreciate your enthusiasm for the music you love, but after reading your site for well over a year i hoped for more.
Yeah Matt! I have also found The Pains of Being Pure at Heart to be a bit on the dull side. Every song sounds the same to me, but you like them, so that’s great! If you want to use your site to champion this band’s career that is every bit your right, but we are welcome to our own opinions as well. It doesn’t seem very fair (or cool) of you to shoot someone down who disagrees with you.
I frequent this blog because I enjoy indie pop music. As I stated before, I have seen The Pains of Being Pure at Heart live three times. I tried to like them, but I just don’t. Sorry for not living up to your expectations Matt. Thanks to everyone who came to my defense.

pobpah are pretty so-so...have a couple of ok songs...dont know why they have keyboards you cant hear them on the records or live...
